The Itinerary
Tap into your sense of adventure with a tour of glorious County Durham, full of historic sites, panoramic views and good old northern charm.
Monday: We begin our tour with a visit to Pickering for an opportunity to enjoy the vibrant hustle of market day before we arrive at the Park Head Hotel where you can expect the warmest of North Eastern welcomes.
Tuesday is for discovering the beautiful city of Durham where you can visit the Cathedral, follow the city art trail and take a relaxing walk along the river. You will be spoilt for choice of eateries from fine dining to welcoming gastro-pubs and dainty tearooms.
Get ready for a day of nautical charm on Wednesday as we visit the Hartlepool Royal Navy Museum (admission not included) where you step aboard Europe’s oldest floating warship the HMS Trincomalee and experience the life of a sailor in the 1800s. You can also learn about the underwater excavation of HMS Invincible and enjoy the ambience of the re-created Georgian quayside where you an see (and hear!) the cannon and muskets being fired!
There is still time to visit Seaton Carew for a traditional seaside experience of a stunning golden beach, the perfect time for an ice cream!
Thursday gives us the chance to explore more of this enigmatic county as we visit Auckland Palace, (admission not included) set in 10 acres of immaculately landscaped gardens, including a Faith Garden, specially designed for reflection and contemplation. We go on to explore the imposing fortress that is Barnard’s Castle which boasts the infamous Richard III as one of it’s previous Lords of the Manor (admission not included).
After such a jam-packed itinerary, sit back and relax on Friday as we take a scenic drive home through the stunning Moors and Dales of North Yorkshire.
