Bakewell & Tissington Well Dressing, 02/06/2025
Fancy a properly lovely day out with zero stress, maximum charm, and a very high chance of cake?
Then hop aboard, because we’re off to explore two of Derbyshire’s prettiest gems. First stop: Bakewell, a town so picturesque you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a postcard. Stroll along the River Wye, rummage through the bustling Monday market, or grab a cuppa in one of the many quaint tearooms. And let’s not beat around the bush - the legendary Bakewell Pudding is calling your name. Crispy pastry, jammy goodness, and a warm, gooey centre? It’d be rude not to! (Calories don’t count on day trips, right?)
Then it’s off to Tissington, where things get seriously impressive at the Well Dressing Festival. Every year, the villagers create stunning, intricate designs using nothing but petals, leaves, and seeds - a level of patience and skill most of us can only dream of! You’ll have plenty of time to wander the picture-perfect village, admire the displays, and maybe even chat with the locals about how they manage to turn flowers into actual works of art (seriously, how?!) With chocolate-box cottages, a charming old church, and some top-tier tearooms, Tissington is the kind of place where you’ll want to slow down, soak up the atmosphere, and maybe squeeze in just one more slice of something delicious before heading home. And the best bit? No driving, no parking nightmares, just pure relaxation and good company!
