January Sale 2026: Day Trips
Any fans of TV’s ‘Bargain Hunt’ or ‘Great Pottery Throwdown’ are sure to enjoy this trip to discover why this area of the Midlands is known worldwide as ‘The Potteries’.
Gladstone Pottery is the only remaining complete Victorian Pottery Factory in the country, harking back to the days when the coal burning ovens of Staffordshire made the world’s finest bone China. You will be treated to a guided tour, demonstrations of traditional skills in the original workshops, and you can even try your hand at throwing a pot of your own! Gladstone’s very own café will be open for you to enjoy lunch in the cobbled courtyard before we head over to the charming county town of Stafford.
With plenty of shops around the main street and town square, Stafford retains much of its character developed through the ages. The Ancient High House (admission not included) on the main street is an impressive Elizabethan Town House which has been converted into a museum. Wander through the delightful Victoria Park with its well-kept gardens and quaint bridges over the River Sow - there’s even a windmill!
