The Shap Well Hotel
The Shap Wells Hotel in Penrith is ideal from which to explore old favourites and discover new delights. The hotel is situated in a secluded valley, surrounded by mountain streams where you may get the chance to spot some of the local wildlife, including roe deer, and red squirrels that live in the grounds and the woodland beyond.
The Shap Wells Hotel aims to make your visit as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. Thewell-equipped, comfortable rooms exude a quaint charm with TV, free internet access and tea and coffee making facilities.
The stylish Birkbeck Restaurant and Riverside Bar are the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day of adventures.

Monday
Before you even reach your hotel you can experience Kendal, home of the famous Kendal Mint Cake, with its web of interweaving alleyways and cobbled yards, alive with vibrant events and quality shopping, or maybe climb to the ruins of Kendal Castle offering superb views across the town.
Tuesday
Allow us to take you on a scenic drive across the region to catch the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway. Hop aboard and experience the thrill of a steam train as unrivalled scenery passes by, surely an unmissable experience! (Inclusive of price) As if that wasn’t enough, we then take you to the majestic Muncaster Castle. Be sure to see their Birds of Prey and enjoy the falconry display, a marvellously medieval experience!
Wednesday
On Wednesday we head to one of our favourite spots in the Lakes - the lovely Bowness-on-Windermere. A small town with a big heart offering something for everyone. See the boats bobbing along in the jetty where you can take a 45 minute cruise across Lake Windermere (included in the price) to the town of Ambleside.
Alternatively, if you are feeling more energetic you can enjoy a lakeside ramble from Bowness to Ambleside offering astounding views as you go. Bowness lovingly embraces it’s connection to Beatrix Potter and her whimsical animal characters and the shops are filled with Peter Rabbit and Mrs Tiggywinkle souvenirs. Don’t forget to savour an ice cream, there are so many different flavours on offer you will be spoilt for choice!
Thursday
We are off to the Keswick where you can choose how to spend your day in the friendly town, visiting it’s quirky array of shops, galleries and museums and enjoying a gentle stroll to the lake, or for the more energetic amongst you bring your walking boots for a circular ramble taking in Castlerigg Stone Circle, the Lake District’s answer to Stonehenge.
Friday
It’s time to say farewell to the lovely Lake District that is sure to have captured your heart with its winning combination of breathtaking views and friendly welcomes. Head for home with a heart full of memories to last a lifetime!
