If you are new to rambling and hiking, interested in history and literature or just fancy a walk taking in all the wonderful sites Whitby has to offer, this walk is definitely for you!
Although this walk takes only 1 hour 45 minutes to complete, we recommend allowing yourself more time as there are so many points of interests and things to see, you’ll want to stop and take it all in for sure.
The walk begins on the Cleveland Way cliff top path looking out over the sea before winding inland to reach the town. Your walk will include the impressive Whitby Abbey (and those famous 199 steps leading to them - The Dracula Trail) as well as museums, the harbour and the swing bridge.
The trail is a mixture of different paths underfoot including grass and pavestones so please, as always, remember those sturdy walking boots and plenty of water to keep you hydrated as you make your way around - especially on those steps!
Many regular walkers on this route describe the walk as interesting with a nice mixture of cliffside and town sights and would definitely recommend it for an all round tour of a wonderful seaside town.
