Whitby Rambler: Whitby Lighthouses, 25/05/2025
Walk: Whitby Lighthouses
Difficulty: Hard
Length: 6.4km
Elevation: 94m
Approximate Completion Time: 1 hour and 30 minutes
Rambler Rating: 4.3 stars
One of our harder rambles but definitely worth it for the coastal and town views!
This walk does come with a warning that parts of the route (beach and pier section) are only accessible when the tide is low. Please refer the pictures above to see the predicted tide times, it is recommended that you complete the ramble on arrival in Whitby if you feel you are able to complete the whole walk before 3.00pm when the tide is predicted to be high.
The walk itself is flat in the main but there are several steep climbs and descents with steps so please do ensure you are wearing suitable, sturdy footwear and you are physically able to undertake these less favourable areas.
Your walk will take your around Whitby, the two piers (please be careful on the second pier as there are no railings) and the iconic Captain Cook Monument honouring the sailor and explorer!
