This is a lovely, easy-going route taking you up along the western slopes of Garn to the Welsh flag atop Craig y Gigfran, providing stunning views of Cardigan Bay along the way. The trail starts in Barmouth along the Mawddach estuary, where there are plenty of great places to get some refreshments and visit the beach. As you climb higher, enjoy the beautiful views of the Welsh coastline. As you set out, you'll head uphill through woodland bordering the town. Some parts are rather steep and can get muddy during wetter months, so best to come prepared with appropriate footwear and layers for full enjoyment. You'll pass a cave, the ruins of Barmouth Manganese Mine, Cell-Fechan, and Cell Fechan Manganese Mine on the way to Craig y Gigfran and the Welsh flag atop it.
On the way back down, pass the Centenary Viewpoint before returning to Barmouth.
