If you’re wanting to see the very best of Scarborough, this trail is perfect for you! The trail covers South Bay, the seafront and the Castle.
Wildlife including foxes, peregrine falcons, kittiwakes, and harbour porpoise can be spotted along this trail if you are lucky! As you round the headland, the North Bay (which has become popular with surfers) comes into view. Heading around the North Bay you reach The Sands Complex and the entrance to the Open Air Theatre, where you cross the road and walk back through Peasholm Park and Peasholm Glen, joining the cinder track and back to the starting point at the train station.
The ramble is described as straightforward and mostly on surfaced footpaths. There is short stretch where you can walk along the beach, providing the tide is out (please check in advance) but please be aware, you will negotiate some flights of steps.
With lots of historic sites to visit along the way and sites such as the Open Air Theatre and the Sands Complex, this ramble is the perfect way to experience all the delights that Scarborough has to offer!
