This is a scenic countryside trail taking through classic Yorkshire moorland covered in heather that looks stunning in late summer and beyond.
Keep an eye out for birds like the red grouse, whose call is a real sound of the moors, or even a kestrel hunting overhead. As you head up onto Skipton Moor, you're walking in a landscape with ancient roots, including Iron Age settlements. The views stretch out towards Skipton, a town famous for its magnificent medieval castle that stood strong for three years during a Civil War siege.
The beginning of the route does get off to a steep start but don’t despair, the views are well worth it!
It can get a bit boggy, especially in wetter conditions, so sturdy footwear is required.
